Palo Santo

"Holy Wood" from South America

What is Palo Santo?

Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) is a sacred tree native to South America. For centuries, its naturally aromatic wood has been used in spiritual and wellness practices. When burned, Palo Santo releases a warm, woody fragrance with hints of citrus and pine.

Spiritual and Aromatic Uses

  • Energy clearing: Widely burned as an incense stick to clear heavy or negative energy from living spaces, similar to sage.

  • Promoting positivity: Welcomes peace, harmony, and good fortune into a room after the smoke is lit and gently blown out.

  • Meditation aid: Used to ground the mind and transition into deep focus or yoga practices.

  • Natural repellent: Emits aromatic oils that help deter mosquitoes and other flying insects.

How to Burn Palo Santo

1. Light the Stick - Hold one end of the Palo Santo stick at a slight angle and light it with a candle, match, or lighter.

2. Let it Burn - Allow the flame to burn for 30–60 seconds.

3. Blow Out the Flame - Gently blow out the flame. The stick should continue to smoulder and release fragrant smoke.

4. Enjoy the Aroma - Move around your space if desired or place the stick in your heatproof ceramic dish to smoulder and cool safely.
